Property Taxes are assessed, levied, due and payable on a calendar year basis as of December 31st. For those who wish to pre-pay, Property Tax Statements are mailed early to mid December. Nebraska State Law allows taxpayers the opportunity to pay Property Taxes in two (2) installments after December 31st. The first installment must be paid on or before March 31st to avoid delinquency. The second installment must be paid on or before July 31st to avoid delinquency.

Property Tax Statement Instructions:

  • Sample Personal Property Statement
  • Please be certain the tax statement you receive is for your property. Douglas County is not responsible for taxes paid on the wrong property.
  • If your taxes are paid by a mortgage company, do not pay this notice - retain for your records.
  • First half taxes are due on or before March 31st. If the first half taxes are not paid by this date, interest must be included in your payment or it will be returned.
  • Second half taxes are due on or before July 31st. If the second half taxes are not paid by this date, interest must be included in your payment or it will be returned.
  • Current year delinquent taxes must be paid prior to paying the second installment.
  • Partial payments on taxes will not be accepted.
  • Additional payment other than an entire installment will not be accepted.
  • Make checks payable to the Douglas County Treasurer.
  • Please allow 2 (two) weeks for payment processing.
  • There will be a $25.00 service charge for each returned check.
  • Acceptable forms of payments include: cash, check, money order and credit cards..
